Does it support old .doc files?

Not yet. Open the file in Word and save it as .docx first.

Are merged table cells preserved?

Markdown tables do not support merged cells. The converter flags them so you can review or simplify those tables.

Can I edit the Markdown?

Yes. The result is editable before you copy or download it.

Is it really free?

Yes. The core DOCX-to-Markdown conversion requires no account or payment.

Are heading levels preserved?

Recognized Word heading styles map to Markdown heading levels, from H1 through H6. Check the preview if the source document used custom styles instead of Word’s built-in headings.

What happens to standard Word tables?

Ordinary rows and columns become a Markdown table. Merged cells cannot be represented exactly, so those tables are flagged for review.

Can I use the result in Obsidian or GitHub?

Yes. Copy or download the Markdown and add it to your vault or repository. Review image placeholders and complex tables before publishing.
